Sweetwater is the story of two young women whose paths cross in the Montana Territory of the 1870's. The respectable world of an Eastern woman in the late 1800's, marrying and caring for a family, holds no appeal for Jennifer Kensington. She seeks a life of adventure and challenge. When her request to work in the family business is refused by her father, she leaves for the West, where she is certain she will find a new life in a society where a woman's options are not so restricted.Jennifer Kensington wants more from life than the arranged marriage and future her father has planned for her. She slips away during the night, leaving behind her home and family to travel west to the small frontier town of Sweetwater. Jesse Branson expecting to inherit the family ranch is left, seemingly, without a future when she suddenly discovers the ranch has been sold. Wandering aimlessly around the frontier, one night she sits in on a Denver poker game and quickly finds herself the owner of a questionable business establishment in the town of Sweetwater.
